| The Piranhas celebrate their 2nd
place finish in the 11km team standings at the MCC Chilly Wily |
The Piranhas Dragon Boat Club sent fifteen runners
to the Lakefront Promenade in Mississauga to participate in the
5th Annual Mississauga Canoe Club's Chilly Willy 11km and Half-Marathon.
This was the first official competitive event of the young 2003-2004
season for the Piranhas, and the team did not disappoint. The team's
second place finish in the 11 km Team Challenge standings was buoyed
by the efforts of runners new to running long distances, let alone
in sub-zero weather.
The event helped set into motion a guiding principle
for this year's team, which is to reach previously unfathomable
achievements by realistic goal setting and drawing upon the support
and resources of one's teammates. And it was a great excuse
to go for all-you-can-eat sushi and a trip to the New Balance store
at Yonge and Eglinton after the race.
