Jason Au, weighing in at 73.3 kg (160 lbs) attempts 227.5 kg (501.6 lbs) at the Ontario Deadlift Open

Amidst the madness of the Mother's Day weekend, the Piranhas made room for two on-water practices while a couple paddlers also took the time to accomplish a couple of impressive athletic feats.

Jason Au headed up to Waterloo, Ontario on Saturday, May the 10th for the 14th Annual Ontario Deadlift Open. He captured the Open Men's 75 kg and under title with lifts of 192.5 kg, 220 kg, and a personal best of 227.5 kg. With the best strength-to-weight ratio in the competition, Jason also managed to win the award for the Best Lifter for the Junior Men's category for men 23 and under.

Roxana Su placed 4th in her age category at the Baycrest 10 km Challenge on Sunday, May the 9th, running through cold winds and a heavy downpour of rain. Having medalled at this event before, placing well at this race is nothing new for Rox. After finishing the race, she packed up her bags and headed off to practice.

All in all, it was a busy weekend for the Piranhas Dragonboat Racing Crew - on and off the water.
