Three members of the Piranhas Dragonboat Racing Crew participated in the Sporting Life 10 km Run on May 4, 2003. Roxana Su, Jaime Yamashita, and San Yong were among 4273 runners that ran the rather hilly course which started one block north of Sporting Life's flagship store near Yonge and Eglinton and ended at the base of the CN Tower on Bremner Blvd in downtown Toronto. The winning time at the event was set by Peter Ntabo of Kenya, who ran the race in a time of 28:01.5 at a pace of 2:49/km.

Easily one of the team's most accomplished runners, Roxana finished 22nd out of the 494 competitors in the women's 25-29 division, finishing the race in a time of 46:14.7. Jaime Yamashita finished the race in a time of 52:59.2, good enough for 44th out of the 158 female competitiors in the 20-25 age group. Finally, San Yong completed the run in 49:31, coming in at 123rd out of the field of 292 athletes in the men's 25-29 age group.

Both Jaime and San ran personal best 10 km times and all three of these accomplished athletes should be commended for not only performing so well at the Sporting Life 10 km, but for also attending the crew's first on-water practice after the run.

Congratulations also go out to the Big Fish Crew's Arvie Kwan, Hoa Truong, and Ada Tang who also placed very well at the event.

Pictures from the event will be posted as soon as possible.
